Udo Erasmus
For two decades, Udo Erasmus has dedicated his time to understanding the effects of fats and oils on health.

He received his B.Sc. in Zoology, followed by two years of graduate studies in biochemistry and genetics at the University of British Columbia. A major turning point came in 1980 when Erasmus was poisoned while working carelessly with pesticides. After doctors were unable to help him, he decided to take responsibility for his own health and sought the answers he needed by burying himself in nutrition research.

Erasmus gave special attention to the effects of fats and oils on human health and wrote a book that became his thesis and earned him a Ph.D. in nutrition in 1986. The revised edition became a landmark book called, Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill.

With the realization that healing oils were difficult for consumers to obtain, Erasmus pioneered a technology for pressing and packaging fresh oils under exclusion of light, heat, and oxygen. Originally, he worked with flax oil, and later added sunflower, sesame and other oils to the blend for a healthy balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

In 2005, Udo Erasmus was inducted into the Canadian Health Food Association's Hall of Fame, recognizing his contribution to the fields of health and nutrition over the past two decades and his persistent efforts to educate the public and industry about the importance of Essential Fatty Acids.

Udo Erasmus has further developed products to address modern health concerns. For more information please visit his website: www.udoerasmus.com
